She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar. – NKJV
When I first committed several years ago to praying a scripture a day for my wife from Proverbs 31, and got to this verse, I thought, “How the heck am I going to pray for my wife that she is like a merchant ship?” I initially prayed that she got the best deals for the best prices.
But then I looked up the Hebrew word for merchant used in this verse is cachar, which it means to go around, go about, travel about in, go about in trade. My wife likes to travel, and as husbands, we should want for our wives to get what they want.
She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
and brings back exotic surprises. – MSG
She is like the merchant ships [abounding with treasure]… – AMP
She is like a trader’s ship – NCV
…she brings her merchandise from afar. – LAM
Prayer for wife: Father, I thank you that my wife is like a merchant ship, getting the best deals for the best prices. I thank you that she gets to travel about, to bring back exotic surprises both of memories and of treasure. I thank you that her life abounds with the treasure that matters the most: peace, love, and joy in You.
